Gujarat-based producer Chanda Patel received an overwhelming response at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival as her much-awaited film Tera Mera Nata was screened at the globally celebrated festival. The screening witnessed a packed audience, with cinema lovers, international guests, and industry delegates applauding the emotional depth and storytelling of the film.

The special market screening at Cannes turned into a proud moment for Indian cinema as the audience appreciated the film’s strong narrative, cultural emotions, and heartfelt performances. The applause after the screening reflected the positive reception the movie received from viewers across different countries, making Tera Mera Nata one of the talked-about Indian projects showcased during the festival.

The film stars veteran actress Deepika Chikhalia along with Suraj, Pankaj Berry, and Ambika Vani in important roles. The film is directed by Savi Goel and Chanda Patel, bringing together an emotional story rooted in relationships, values, and human connections. Cannes: Indian filmmaker Chandrakant Singh added another milestone to his Cannes journey as he launched the trailer and poster of Hunger Game at the prestigious Bharat Pavilion during the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

The launch, supported by the National Film Development Corporation of India, witnessed the presence of international delegates, film enthusiasts and industry professionals, celebrating India’s growing footprint on the global cinema stage.

Known for consistently representing independent Indian cinema internationally, Chandrakant Singh marked his 10th visit to Cannes this year and his fifth participation with Indian short films at the festival.

Hunger Game focuses on the dark and disturbing reality of the beggar mafia system in India, shedding light on the organised exploitation operating behind begging rackets, especially around urban traffic signals. Through the short film, the filmmaker attempts to spark conversation around a deeply rooted social issue that often goes unnoticed.

Speaking at the launch event, Chandrakant Singh said:

“It is always an emotional and proud moment to represent India at Cannes. This is my tenth time attending the festival and my fifth time presenting Indian short films here. I thank NFDC and Bharat Pavilion for continuously supporting filmmakers like us and giving meaningful cinema a global platform.”

The filmmaker received appreciation from attendees at the Bharat Pavilion, with many praising the film’s socially relevant subject and impactful narrative approach.

Over the years, Chandrakant Singh has emerged as one of the few Indian independent filmmakers to maintain a consistent presence at Cannes, using cinema as a medium to highlight socially significant themes. With Hunger Game, he once again brings attention to a hard-hitting issue while strengthening India’s representation at one of the world’s most celebrated film festivals.

Adding to his vision for the future, Chandrakant Singh shared:

“For the last five to six years, I have been bringing my short films to Cannes and representing Indian independent cinema on this prestigious global platform. Now, my focus is on developing a full-length feature film, and I am hopeful of bringing my feature project to Cannes next year. My dream is to have it selected in competition and proudly walk the red carpet with my own film at the Cannes Film Festival.”

P Se Pyaar F Se Faraar is a film set in Mathura that follows the story of Suraj and Janvi, two young people who fall in love despite coming from different backgrounds. As their relationship grows, they start facing pressure from family and society. The film looks at how caste and social differences can affect personal relationships and everyday life.

The story stays simple and focused on the emotions of the characters. Instead of making everything dramatic, the film moves in a natural way and shows situations that feel real. A lot of the scenes are based around fear, confusion, and the pressure of trying to make personal choices in a society that still holds strong opinions about class and caste.

Jyoti Yadav plays her part in a very calm and natural way. Her performance fits the mood of the film and never feels out of place. She keeps her expressions simple and handles emotional scenes with ease. The character feels believable because of the way she approaches the role.

What also works is that Jyoti does not try to make every scene heavy or overly emotional. She keeps things balanced, which suits the film’s tone. Her dialogue delivery feels smooth and her screen presence feels comfortable throughout the story.

Sadhna Sangar’s solo exhibition, ‘Celebration of Life,’ emerges from a deeply sustained relationship with nature, inner reflection, and emotional resilience. At a time when contemporary life is increasingly fractured by speed, anxiety, and visual excess, Sangar’s paintings offer something quietly radical: spaces of stillness, luminosity, and renewal. Her works do not attempt to dominate the viewer through drama; instead, they unfold gradually, like a remembered melody or the slow arrival of dawn after a long night.

Working through layered surfaces of colour, fluid gestures, and atmospheric abstraction, Sangar transforms natural forms into states of feeling. Mountains dissolve into light, rivers appear to breathe, trees become silent witnesses, and skies open into meditative expanses. Her canvases are not descriptions of physical landscapes alone; they are emotional terrains shaped by memory, devotion, solitude, and wonder. The recurring presence of flowing blues, radiant whites, burning oranges, and pulsating pinks creates a visual language that oscillates between serenity and intensity.

There is a spiritual undercurrent within Sangar’s practice, but it is never rigid or illustrative. Instead, spirituality appears here as sensitivity, a way of listening to the world rather than controlling it. Her paintings seem to emerge from moments of contemplation where nature is experienced not as backdrop, but as a living and conscious presence. Water becomes movement and cleansing; light becomes awakening; colour becomes vibration.

What makes Sangar’s work particularly significant is its sincerity. In an art climate often shaped by irony, market-drive, or intellectual distancing, she remains committed to emotional openness and sensory immediacy. This commitment gives the exhibition its strength. The paintings do not ask the viewer to decode complicated systems of meaning; they ask instead for attentiveness, slowness, and emotional participation. They invite the viewer to pause long enough to encounter silence, fragility, and joy again.

Over the years, Sadhna Sangar has contributed extensively to the cultural landscape through her roles as artist, educator, mentor, and organiser. Yet ‘Celebration of Life’ truly transcends biography. It stands as a testament to an artist who continues to believe in the transformative possibilities of colour, rhythm, and human sensitivity. These paintings remind us that beauty is not escapism. In difficult times, beauty can become a form of endurance, community, and healing.
